Connected Scandals
Freedom-of-information data obtained by Global News show Ontario's "homes in distress" fund, which makes one-time emergency payments to long-term care homes struggling to stay financially stable, grew from $2.4 million in 2021-22 to $17.2 million in 2024-25, with the largest single payments now reaching $6 million to $7 million.
