Piccini promised to require salary ranges in Ontario job postings

“At a time when many companies are posting record profits, it is only fair they communicate transparently about how they pay workers.”

What happened · Jan 1, 2026

Since January 1, 2026, the Employment Standards Act has required employers to include expected pay or a pay range in publicly advertised job postings.

On November 6, 2023, Piccini announced legislation requiring expected salary ranges in job postings and disclosure of AI use in hiring. It was enacted as the Working for Workers Four Act, 2024 (Bill 149), which added Part III.1 to the Employment Standards Act. Section 8.2 requires postings to state expected pay or a range. Ontario Regulation 476/24 set the start date as January 1, 2026, and limited the rules to employers with 25 or more employees. A posted range can be no wider than $50,000, and the pay requirement does not apply to jobs paying over $200,000.
