Value not disclosed
On August 31, 2026 — the same day Ontario announced the groundbreaking — Bird Construction Inc. announced that Piinahzii Limited Partnership had signed an agreement expanding its scope to include construction of the Marten Falls Community Access Road. Piinahzii LP is a majority Indigenous-owned partnership formed earlier in 2026 by Marten Falls First Nation and Bird; the amended agreement extends its role beyond community infrastructure and readiness work to the access road itself. The road is 184 kilometres long with 35 bridge and culvert structures, the longest segment of the proposed 514-kilometre all-season road network serving the Ring of Fire. Bird president and CEO Teri McKibbon said the company would bring its infrastructure experience together with the leadership and priorities of Marten Falls. The contract value was not disclosed in the release.
