$500M claim (settlement amount undisclosed)
Craft Kingsmen Rail (East) Corp. had agreed in 2018 to buy roughly 35.5 acres of air rights above rail tracks near Union Station from CN and Toronto Terminals Railway, but had not closed the deal when Metrolinx expropriated the rights in 2021-2022. The company then pursued a $500 million compensation claim at the Ontario Land Tribunal against Metrolinx, arguing it could have built highrise mixed-use towers on the site; the case was settled out of court in late 2025/early 2026 for an undisclosed amount that the province has refused to make public.
