$7.5M grant / $25M+ lawsuit
Keel Digital Solutions received a $7.5-million Skills Development Fund grant for a digital mental-health peer-counselling platform for Peel Region police and officer training. A subsequent forensic audit of the company's separate Ministry of Colleges and Universities contract found apparent irregularities in transfer payments to its subsidiary Get A-Head, which the Ford government referred to the OPP Anti-Rackets Branch for investigation; Ontario later sued the company for over $25 million alleging fraudulent misrepresentation, and the company filed a $98-million countersuit denying wrongdoing.
