Ontario's Minister of Energy and Mines Stephen Lecce announced the province is fast-tracking Kinross Gold's Great Bear gold project near Red Lake under the 'One Project, One Process' permitting framework, making it the third project (and first gold mine) accepted under the program, over the objections of downriver Grassy Narrows First Nation which has launched a legal challenge citing risk to the English-Wabigoon river system and previously won a challenge to one of Kinross' water-taking permits at the Ontario Land Tribunal.
