After the Bill 5 carve-out for the York1 site, Chatham-Kent was sued by York1 over planning approvals; it had spent about $108,000 on legal and engineering costs by April 2026 and council approved up to $250,000 more (Chatham Daily News, CTV Windsor). York1 abandoned its court application in September 2026.
