Lobbyist
Stars Group Inc. (operator of PokerStars) hired Loyalist Public Affairs — the lobbying firm founded by Doug Ford campaign vice-chair Chris Froggatt — as its Ontario lobbyist in fall 2018, replacing its previous lobbyist. Loyalist partners Froggatt and Dan Mader, plus consultant Jill Wilson, lobbied the Premier's office, Finance Minister Vic Fedeli's office, and Attorney-General Caroline Mulroney's office for internet gambling legalization; the Globe and Mail reported this produced a 'quick win' when Fedeli's April 2019 budget pledged to create a competitive private online gambling market, the policy that became Ontario's iGaming expansion.
